Full Bases Documentation

I just started using Bases as I am not using the beta versions. I can’t seem to find a full documentation for the syntax. In the official documentation under Bases/Syntax, it shows an example that is clearly missing some available options such as columnSize and rowHeight. Is there somewhere or some means by which I can get a full syntax?

You can partially get more info about the syntax if you set a base using the base GUI and then open the .base file on the side and see how it’s written :innocent: .

At least, that’s what I did for the column size

Too bad the community can’t help document bases. Keeping documentation up to date is time consuming especially for small teams. And we know: no one likes writing documentation.

I think this help document needs commenting !

My suggestion is to make Obsidian truly multi-user. I know that will take a long time.

Something that could work is all major documentation topics for Obsidian should have a a “discussion link” to permanent thread in Discourse. Think of it as a “community-based” extension of the help topic, in this case Bases.

I promise this would yield time saving aspects to the obisidian team over time.

Many hands make light work.

You can contribute on the GitHub repo of Obsidian’s documentation  .

Edit: There’s also the community lead Obsidian Hub

That’s also how I found out about column size! I’ve figured out a few things using the GUI but something akin to a railroad diagram would be amazing.

Yeah, if people could file issues on the Help repo, that would be great. I noticed some missing things (like: it doesn’t clearly say you can edit properties from bases) and have been meaning to. They are open to pull requests too, but make sure to read the README and the style guide it links before submitting anything substantial.

Thanks to everyone for your responses. I’ll do some reading and try to contribute to the documentation.
