I had several freezes / the layout only updated when switching between maximize and window mode. The behavior was independent of the selected installation mode (snap, …). Now that I have found nothing in the forum here is my fix:
The problem seems to be me having an Intel IGPU, so adding --disable-gpu to the start options fixes it.
