Fractional scaling on hyprland/wayland

Hey folks, I seem to be running into a bit of a bizarre issue running the Obsidian software, both as a natively installed app as well as the AppImage downloaded from the website. A bit of context:

Running Archlinux with Hyprland with monitor scaling set to 0.75. I’m on a laptop, and keeping scaling at 1 makes everything pretty big (at 1920x1080). Now, when I run Obsidian, regardless if it’s through the natively installed app, or from the AppImage, unless the scaling is set to a whole number, the entire Obsidian frame appears smaller inside the border of the window.

Mouse-over effects appear in the smaller inner display when the mouse hovers over areas where that element SHOULD be (ie, the close “X” on the top-right will change color on hover when my mouse is in the top-right corner of the WINDOW, and not where the window rendering appears. See screenshot:

(had to take screenshot using VNC, for some reason, it did not render my remote mouse in the display, which is in the upper-right corner of the window, so you can see that the “X” is orange)

You’ll notice I’ve executed the AppImage with all the command-line switches I’ve found scouring the internet.

Any ideas or help here would be much appreciated, as the way it currently functions is unusable.

Many thanks!!

I may have found a workaround…I modified the monitor setting in hyprland.conf and set the resolution to 3840x2160, but with a scale factor of 1.5 and that seemed to fix the weird issue where Obsidian opens not rendered properly to the edge of the window, and my resolution looks pretty crisp, so, win-win, I’d say.

In case this is something someone else may be struggling with, I figured I’d update and let people know what worked for me.
