Footnotes ([^a] style) not working at all - (^[a] is OK)

For some reason, inline footnotes ^[a] work well, but [^a] style footnotes do not work at all. I’ve turned off community plugins, as well as custom CSS, themes, rebooted, reinstalled, etc. No luck

Has anyone else had this issue?

You need to put a colon, : after the brackets in the content of the footnote.

I have a similar issue, but I think it’s by design.

I can’t manually name my footnotes because Obsidian keeps automatically renaming and sorting them.

I know this is what makes more sense to a document, and writing this I got that lol.
I should use ^[lorem] instead
