Footnote References in Callouts Don't Display Correctly in Live Preview

Steps to reproduce

Create a note that contains a footnote reference inside of a callout.
For example:

> [!note]
> Footnote reference in a callout[^1].

[^1]: footnote

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N]

Yes; you can reproduce this in a sandbox vault.

Expected result

I expect the footnote reference to appear as it does in other contexts, as a superscript with a caret.

Actual result

The footnote text displays just after the text, with no indication that it’s a footnote reference until the callout block is edited. See screenshot below. It appears as expected in Reading View.

Additional information

This is what I see with the example that I provided above:

Addendum, since I just noticed this while trying to figure out a workaround.
Inline footnotes do show up, but they’re just below the callout. They appear at the bottom (where I’d expect them) in reading view.

Example:

> [!note]
> Footnote reference in a callout[^1].
> Inline reference^[inline].

[^1]: footnote
