Greetings! I have my obsidian in automatic update so it is the latest software.
I have bene encoutering issues with trying to check some new community plugins or load some old ones, and several - for example. timestamp notes, outliner, Day Planner - are all unable to load. In particular, the error message is “failed to load plugin manifest.”
I’m getting the same error. Some of the plugins just don’t show and i get this same message when clicking to see the description. Only able to manually install plugins. This is very annoying. I updated my installer version, even after having the update, and still am getting this error. I also tried full reinstall, and still I am having the same error.
Is basically every 2 or 3, one doesn’t load. Even if i had it installed before, like solo-toolkit for example. I just was capable of seeing, and then after restart the computer, i can’t. I don’t think it has to do with the plugin itself. Also, i tried editing my post, but couldn’t, so sorry for double posting. There’s a lot more than just the list i posted above.
So, something else is going on. You could try a few of the suggestions listed in this post:
to see if anything helps.
No worries. Once you have made some more posts, created topics, etc., you’ll be able to edit your own posts. It’s a forum default setting for new users.
hi, im having the same issue so i hope to add something. I have 2 main vaults, and in the first one in installed Minimal theme Settings. It installed correctly, and then when i went into the community plugins again to install another thing, it showed the same “cannot read properties of null”. I downloaded the new installer, and nothing. I deleted the plugin folder, and that seemed to fix that issue. Now, i cant open the Minimal Theme Settings in my other vault. Tried the same fix that i described (reinstalling, deleting plugins)and nothing, i get the “failed to load plugin manifest”
Yeah, for me none of the options helped. It seems to be random wich plugin gives the error. What i do know is that my computer or connection didn’t change, and that before latest update i never got this error. I use obsidian for more than 2 years, heavy plugin user, and never once experienced this before.
I’m replying to add my voice to this issue, as I’m going through the exact same problem, and it’s incredibly frustrating.
For me, it all started suddenly while I was customizing the Excalidraw plugin, and then everything broke. Now, nothing works correctly. I’ve been trying to fix this for an entire day.
Like you, after a fresh reinstall of Obsidian, it works for a short while, but then the problem comes back and it loses the connection, showing “Failed to load” errors for both community plugins and themes.
The most confusing part is that I’ve been a heavy Obsidian user for about two years on the same Windows 11 machine and have never experienced anything like this. I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary to trigger such a catastrophic failure.
It’s a difficult situation. I have years of work saved in my vault, and while I know the files are saved locally, migrating everything to another tool would be a huge undertaking. I love Obsidian, but I have a major study project right now and it’s impossible to trust the application when it’s this unstable.
Just wanted to share my experience so the developers are aware that this is affecting more long-time users.
Just to add my final conclusion to this thread, after extensive troubleshooting:
I can confirm that uninstalling all community plugins does not solve the issue. The problem does not seem to be related to any specific plugin.
The most important finding is that I can successfully access the community plugins list URL (raw.githubusercontent.com/...) directly in my web browser without any issues
