A few months ago, when I exported a file into PDF, it would do so with the colored line next to the heading (not sure what they’re called). But now when I do the same, it’s gone.
I’ve tried to turn off all the community plugins to see if something is interfering with it (as well as turn off community plugins altogether), since I’ve had similar formatting issues with exports before, but same result.
I haven’t changed my theme, either, and I made sure everything is updated.
Here’s a heading from an old document:
They’re still there when editing, like usual, but when exported to a PDF they’re gone.
I’m really not sure what to call them, but I genuinely really like the colored lines next to the headings and would like to somehow get them back
Those are casually called “heading markers” or “heading indicators”. I use a variation in Live Preview:
They aren’t part of core Obsidian; they come from a CSS snippet or theme setting. The theme developer needs to make sure they are included in PDF exports. What theme are you using? Some internals of Obsidian may have changed in that the markers are still there in your notes but aren’t showing in PDF exports anymore.
An export snippet might be possible to write if we have a few more details.
You could also let the theme developer know about the issue on their Github page (if the markers are indeed coming from a theme).
Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to try to help out.
Just to see what happens, while exporting, I toggled the ‘Include file name as title’ option, and the line appeared, but only for that heading. So I’m not really sure what that means.
I use a theme called Border, and it works with the plugin Style Settings.
I’ll try to disable the theme to see if that’s what’s wrong.
EDIT:
Omg, I never knew those lines came from the theme
Once I switched themes they were gone and I kind of got it.
I’ll take your advice and let the theme developer know!
