Export/import settings

What I’m trying to do

I just need to transfer all settings from one computer to another. I can’t find an export/import feature in the settings, and I don’t have an account for the official sync.

It bares noting that I need to export ALL settings. Absolutely everything. I just don’t want to manually have to go through some leftovers.

The user profile directory is different on the target machine. Not sure if that’s useful to mention, but it is what it is.

Things I have tried

I’ve looked through the docs and the forum, and everywhere it refers to “the .obsidian folder”. First of all, where would it be located??

Secondly, I’ll assume for the moment everyone made the mistake by including the dot. I do have a directory called obsidian (without the dot) in my user profile settings directory, which files affect settings? I’m talking about %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\obsidian. Again, not sure that that’s it, but that’s the best one I can find. In here, there are lots of cache-like things that seem to pertain to the local machine, not to settings that ought to be synced.

There’s also one in %userprofile%\AppData\Local\obsidian. That one seems to contain the program installation. Actually, Local is where cache-like things are supposed to be stored, but that’s a different problem for another day.

There’s a .obsidian folder in each vault. e.g. {VAULT-NAME}/.obsidian/. It’s where a vault’s settings, themes, CSS snippets, and community plugins are saved.

And what about general settings, e.g. not related to any one vault?
