Escaped space as non-breaking space in viewing mode

Markdown can implement non-breaking spaces as escaped spaces (see R Markdown Cookbook). This appears to be partially supported already in Obsidian editor mode but not in viewer mode.

Steps to reproduce

  1. In editor mode, enter escaped spaces like keep the social \ \ \ distance
  2. Enter viewer mode.

Expected result

Escaped spaces should be shown as non-breaking spaces in viewer mode.

Escaped spaces are shown as the escape character and a space.

This is not a bug.

This is not part of the commonmark spec. Search/Open a feature request.

Then remove it from editor mode? The bug is the inconsistent behavior.
