Steps to reproduce
I was in Source mode. I wanted to paste a link to frontmatter property “prev:” Two “[”, selection of a note name and got text like [[note_name]], and expected to see “[[link]]”. After turn off Source mode and some additions to frontmatter it was converted to ‘\n’- - link.

I’ve reproduced it in newly created sandbox vault.
Expected result
I expected to see text like this “[[note_name]]” or this ‘\n’ - “[[note_name]]”
Actual result
Wrong text.
