I have been searching for months for a cross-platform note-taking app. I thought I had found what I was looking for with Obsidian.
However, embedded video snippets (20 secs at the most) (MKV, MP4, WEBM) won’t load and start playing on Android.
I have tried in both a canvas and on a note, the video files are in the local vault. They play fine with all other players. There is no problem like this with Obsidian on any desktop.
If I add just 3 clips to test with, switch to another note then switch back again, the video clips may or may not play. It’s quite random which ones will play. Ones that do play one time do not play the next time and vice versa.
At a loss
In this screenshot of a new clean install of Obsidian with 3 clips embedded into a note, the top 2 clips have failed to load and will not play. You can tell they have not loaded into the GUI properly as they have no play duration “0:00” and the play bar is all grayed out and messed up. Sometimes that play bar will sit right across the middle of the video window rather than at the bottom (i think this only happens in a canvas), which also denotes that it will fail to play if you try. The bottom clip will play fine.
I can switch away to another note and back again, and a different one, two, or all of the vid clips will fail, always random.
