Is this video available somewhere so we can try to reproduce the problem?

The video is just simple download from youtube in HD quality.

The video is just 7:30 minutes and 110MB big.

What I suggest is download any 10 minutes video from youtube, in several resolutions:

  • 720, 1080, 2K, 4K and test the CPU and RAM utilization.

I tried. I haven’t been able to repro your problem. We will see if some other user can help us pinpoint the issue

@den, are you running this in a VM? Or on non-Mac hardware? I’m wondering if Obsidian can’t rely on the graphics processor.

I agree with @datum. When I play videos in Obs, it’s the GPU that does the work. I wonder if you have some codec problem or an older computer/gpu or a mix of those. I wonder what happens when you try to play those videos directly in chrome (by opening the files in chrome not through youtube)

 No it is native Macbook 12". Fresh clean installation of newest Mac OS Big sur.
I need to stress that video is downloaded from youtube, not playing it thru iFrame.

Another test… same video is playing in Obsidian
