Editor tabs

Hi, sorry for asking such a basic questions but I can’t find any related topic on this forum, because every time I search for “tabs” I find either “tables” or anything related to tab indentation.

Are editor tabs supported in Obsidian? This is such a basic feature of any popular text editor that I was kind of boggled by the fact that I couldn’t find it, so I decided to ask here before posting feature or plugin request.

From what I found, I can move documents to the tab bar on the left or right pane, see screenshot below

But this is very inconvenient. Is there any way to have tabs in the main editor?

No, though the Sliding Panes plugin emulates a similar feel.

Otherwise, feel free to support the following feature request:

Tabs in the Main Area of Obsidian view (in the panes) (like a browser)

It would be nice of Obsidian supported multiple tabs. This way a user could open a set of documents in each tab to work on multiple things at once, like personal and work-related things, etc. And a way to preserve what was last opened in case the app crashes or the system has to restart would be helpful as well. An alternative would be to create a new window, but supposedly there’s a technical limitation that prevents that, iirc.
