I am expecting more in line with what read view rendered:
Asteriscs (*) in Obsidian denote the start of italicized text, according to the specifications of markdown that Obsidian adheres to. To enter an asterisc that should be displayed as such, precede it with a backslash like this: \*. This will be rendered as *
