Dynamic Properties Via Formulas

Use case or problem

As is, formulas is very powerful and incredibly useful for dynamic “ethereal” properties as I have just decided to dub them. These properties only exist within that base and cannot be particularly well utilized outside of that specific base.

In my particular case, I had wanted to dynamically determine which parent note (base files in my testing) that each note should link to automatically. While I had gotten this working, It was with the realization that these properties were not “real” properties- nor could they seemingly edit a “real” property- that I was left yearning for more.

To be clear, this opens the gate to a much higher degree of automation and utility for power users outside of just dynamic linking- but without the need for a custom plugin.

Proposed solution

Simply allow users to either utilize a more “real” and typical form of properties alongside formulas- or allow formulas to edit existing “real” properties.

And if feasible, allow the values you attribute to these ”real” properties be links as well.

Current workaround

To my knowledge, there is none. Should there be one, it would likely involve some means to edit an existing “real” property, but not by any usage of the existing “ethereal” properties.
