Dynamic Note Titles

Add an option for note titles to automatically mirror the first line of the note, similar to Apple Notes.

When the first line changes, the note title should update automatically. I primarily find notes by their titles, and the first line naturally becomes the title while writing, so keeping them in sync would make note organization much more seamless.

You can turn on inline titles, which displays the title directly in the body of the note. And you can change it from there.

Otherwise, this request would be a bit tricky because titles can’t contain certain symbols because the title is the system filename. So if you are just typing punctuation into the first line, you wouldn’t be able to have your filename changed to that.

Use case or problem I create dozens of new notes a week and they’d all be named Untitled {number} if I didn’t specifically click the title bar and name them. Proposed solution I’d like the first 5-7 words of the note to auto-populate to the note title. This would often correspond to the top-level header of the note anyway. For instance if I create a note that starts with the header # Dishwasher Repair Tips the note would just be automatically titled Dishwasher Repair Tips unless I change it,…

There may be a community plugin as well to do something like this, but it would need to handle forbidden and reserved characters as rigmarole mentioned.
