Community Directory: Dualyze Notes - Obsidian Plugin

Hi everyone,

I released a new Obsidian community plugin called Dualyze Notes.

Dualyze Notes helps you find similar or overlapping notes in your vault, compare them, and create safe merge drafts.

The plugin is designed for people who often end up with multiple notes about the same topic and want a safer way to review, compare, and clean them up.

What it does

  • Find similar notes in the current folder

  • Compare notes using local text similarity analysis

  • Show similarity scores for title, headings, tags, links, and content

  • Generate Markdown comparison reports

  • Create safe merge draft notes

  • Mark notes as merge candidates using frontmatter

Local-first and safe by design

Dualyze Notes does not use an AI provider or external API.

It runs locally and does not automatically delete or overwrite your original notes.

When creating reports or merge drafts, it keeps links back to the source notes so you can review everything manually.

Example use cases

  • You have several notes about the same topic

  • You want to compare an old note and a newer note

  • You want to create a merge draft before cleaning up your vault

  • You want to review overlapping notes before turning them into reusable AI context

Current scope

This is the first release, so the focus is intentionally simple:

  • Local similarity analysis

  • Safe comparison

  • Merge draft creation

  • No automatic deletion

  • No AI provider integration

Future versions may add broader vault scanning, more comparison views, and optional AI-assisted workflows depending on feedback.

Install

Search for Dualyze Notes in Obsidian Community plugins.

Feedback is very welcome.

I would especially like to know whether the similarity results and merge draft workflow feel useful in real vaults.

Small update:

I’ve updated the documentation and added a new tutorial for Dualyze Notes.

New additions include:

  • Improved README examples

  • Additional screenshots

  • A step-by-step tutorial:
“How Alice Discovered Her Two Habit Notes Were 78% the Same”

The tutorial demonstrates a complete workflow from similarity detection to comparison and Merge Draft generation.

Hopefully this makes it easier to understand when Dualyze Notes is useful in a real vault.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.
