Dragging headers in outline gets order wrong when folded

Steps to reproduce

I think a video is easiest. Using the outline tool, drag a level 1 heading below another level 1 heading. I find that if I drag a level 1 “Heading 1” heading below another level 1 heading “Heading 2” in the outline, it works incorrectly, if Heading 2 is collapsed.

Expected result

I would expect that whether Heading 2 is collapsed or not, that the entire contents of Heading 1 would be placed below Subheading 2.1.

Actual result

Instead, Subheading 2.1 becomes part of Heading 1.
Another way of saying this is that Heading 1 is dropping into Heading 2 instead of below it.

Environment

  • Operating system: MacOS
  • Note that I did test in the Sandbox Vault with default theme and no plugins and it acts exactly the same, so it’s not a plugin or theme problem. This is Obsidian.app

Additional information

If you shift your cursor a few pixels downward it’ll work properly.

If you set the zoom absurdly high and see the drag and drop behaviour, it has two snap-zones below a collapsed heading-tree, the one placed higher puts the dragged heading-tree between the collapsed heading and it’s subheadings, and the zone below puts the dragged heading below collapsed heading and its subheadings.

Or you could just drag it into the open space below the outline, though that would work only if you wanted to shift a heading tree below the last topmost-level heading in the document.

Ah, thanks, I see now. The confusing thing is that the drop zone that I want is up in the title bar. The green line below the heading is very misleading in my view. But now I know, drag down until the green line disappears, and then just trust that it will go at the end of the file.
The difference in the placement of the green line in this case when it’s folded does not make sense, but now I understand, I can deal with it!
Thanks! This has been a head-scratcher for a while, glad I asked and glad you answered.
