Drag-Drop URL from Browser Bar Copies URL Only, not Page Title

Steps to reproduce

Drag-and-drop any URL from the URL bar in Chrome (Windows) into an Obsidian doc. Only the URL copies, which results in a page full of unreadable links after a research session.

For example a YouTube video appears as;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz99I7apNLI&ab_channel=TiagoForte

Expected result

It should instead create a correct Markdown link with the document title (which is part of the clipboard data).

[The Rise of Obsidian as a Second Brain](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz99I7apNLI&ab_channel=TiagoForte)

Actual result

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz99I7apNLI&ab_channel=TiagoForte

Additional information

I’m primarily using Chrome, but have been unable to get the page title to appear with any browser I’ve tested. This results in a LOT of additional work.

I’ve found an old request to repair this which indicated it would be fixed in 0.10.0? I’m hopeful it’s just a setting I need to switch on, but I’d think this should be the default behavior.

there’s nothing we can do. this depends on what the data browser provides while drag and dropping. Drag and drop a link from a within a page works.

Not sure if this will solve your problem, but the “Auto Link Title” plugin does a pretty good job of fetching titles for links. It pulls the <head><title>Title</title></head> from the raw HTML.
