Double clicking a word/line in a PDF does not highlight it

Steps to reproduce

1.) Open Sandbox vault
2.) Insert a PDF with highlightable text and open it with the default PDF Viewer
3.) Double click on a word/line

Word/line highlights when it is double clicked

Actual result

Nothing is highlighted when a word or line is double clicked

Additional information

Highlighting by holding and dragging cursor still works, as does trackpad left clicking on a word. This is occurring on both a Macbook and Windows 10 device.

Nice observation! I can confirm this as well.

Why this is important:

We can select a word and then Copy as quote or Copy link to selection. Quite interestingly these options are not available in regular notes. On mac there is look up words feature which you can use in Obsidian.

Obsidian 1.8.10 still hasn’t fixed this bug. I’m currently still using version 1.6.7. Are there any other feedback channels to let the developers know about this issue? Or do they think it’s not a problem?

It’s not a big problem they would need to fix immediately. They have small team like four devs or so.

I recommend using other pdf reader if you use double clicking frequently. And if you use double clicking occasionally then replace that with dragging. Logseq seems to offer integrated pdf reader as well (although I haven’t tested if it has similar double clicking bug).
