Does obsidian have limit on md file size

I use obsidian on a folder that contains many markdown file. obsidian will crash on creating index.

Things I have tried

  1. remove the file that cause the crash , obsidian will work fine.

from the information that obsidian tell me . obsidian crash because of md file size is too big (200MB).

I don’t believe Obsidian has a specific size limit.

That an extremely big markdown file. The famously large novel “War and Peace” is about 3 MB of plain text.

my file is 200MB . it’s a technical manual. I use obsidian as a tool for ai agent to retrieve information.

200mb in a single file is certainly too large.

There is no hard limit and there are several it depends to add in here. but I would not go past 1mb per single file.
