While working on the map view feature in Task Board plugin for the past few months I have been able to develop a new task management and planning methodology : Dependency Flow Planning (DFP).
Initially it was developed for a specific type of project management, but I believe with time this methodology can be enhanced further, and it can have a great potential for managing a lot of different related tasks and this it can be generalized for all kinds of projects.
So, I call upon academicians, researchers and users of task management and planning methodologies, to try out DFP and share your experience and if possible the results on how this methodology has helped you in your productivity. You may write your own research paper supporting DFP with your results from real world use-case in various kinds of projects.
The reason for sharing this post in Knowledge management is because, this methodology not only helps to manage simple tasks but also complex projects spread across your vaults and files within Obsidian and how you can manage them easily using the Task Board plugin. Refer to the video to learn more about this.
Feel, free to share your ideas, suggestions and any feedback you have on this new methodologies either in this discussion or on the below GitHub discussion link.
I just got this same reply from another user of Obsidian. I am not sure what is wrong with a Text To Speech functionality. I have been using even bad robotic voice than this, from a long time which is available inbuilt inside Microsoft Windows OS. Because, my only goal is to get the text spoken out from the speaker instead of me reading it with my tired eyes. My only aim was to get the content somehow in my brain, and the built-in TTS has done it well without any issue. I am not looking for the comfort or high quality, as long as I can understand the content from the voice. And this voice I have used, is a little better than that, since it atleast has a kind of emotional tune to it, feels a little real.
I understand that its not that interesting, but the video I have made in an attempt to explain the concepts as precisely as possible. I dont have a better microphone, neither I am a good YouTuber to create a high quality video to explain it. This was the easiest way for me to create a video to explain it.
But I am also sure that there are only short groups of people who don’t like text to speech functionality. Because there are still a large amount of users who still use it. And famous tools and browsers has this feature now built-in. Also, I picked this specific voice from the Microsoft API. So, if they have published it, surely they must have thought about it before providing it in their API for the general public to use.
Anyways, right now I dont have the time to edit this video. I hope other fellow YouTubers who are really willing to understand this methodology will watch this video or read the research paper and use these resources as reference to create better quality videos to explain it.
Ill still take your criticism as constructive feedback. And in the future, although I am not a YouTube, will try to create better quality videos.
The issue I see, this video takes way too long to explain concepts and should focus instead, on practical examples to illustrate quickly the strong points of Task Board (a task plugin for Obsidian), in order to target immediately the right audience interested into task/project management. “Simplicity” is king.
BTW, many users here, me included, are multilingual so if our English isn’t perfect, then it’s not our fault. I’m not sorry, if my English isn’t perfect.
Life time is limited and traditional language and grammar-learning methods are just a incredible waste of time. Real learning happens only if you get the chance to talk with real native people on a daily basis. Often, to transfer in another country is just not doable.
Anyway, non English speakers try twice as hard to contribute and us should be granted double the tolerance when we communicate in English. At the end of the day, the content counts.
If the OP is from around Dalian, it is obviously smarter and more realistic, to present their product with a TTS synthesizer.
Thank you for mentioning that. Atleast you get it.
And I agree with all of your points. English is not my native language either. And as I said, I know video made by real peaking speaking face to face in videos are more interactive way of learning, because of body language and emotions expressed through the tone, etc. But, that was not possible for me to create such a video. All this time I have learnt from videos like this only, which explains concepts with robotic or human voice and with animations, etc. So, I was maybe biased, that a lot of people also like to watch video like this.
Another reason for using the robotic voice is because. I noticed that the auto-generated captions are not that good, when speakers of different accent speak English. The robotic voices are spoken with right annunciation. So, the YouTube’s auto-caption can easily pick it up. And now we have the Gemini right inside YouTube itself, which can properly transcribe and summarize the whole video. This way it was possible for a lot of people to translate the summary in their own language. Hence, keeping all this points in mind, I made the video so that it can reach a larger audience.
