I’d appreciate any feedback, corrections, or tips - I’m still quite new to both Obsidian and Zettelkasten in general, and I’m sure there’s a lot more I don’t know yet.
While this is still a work in progress, I’m very strict with those few lines:
Templates: Using the Templater plugin to generate consistent notes for each folder type quickly.
Tagging System: Adding tags for cross-folder categorization (still not good at, but… going there ).
Periodic Review: I set a time to review and reorganize folders to ensure the structure evolves with mine needs.
Custom Dashboard: I created a dynamic dashboard to surface active projects/tasks and to have an overview.
Under the title Universal File Structure, you wrote:
For example, Linux can let me make all these files in the same directory:
“home.md “, “Home.md”, and “homE .md”.
This is why I hate Linux! … I’m a Win and Mac user, but I never thought about that - so, good point! And yes, the English alphabet (as non-Balkan people and OS could have challenges). I’m a fan of camelCase, PascalCase and snake_case. Using them differently depending on the use.
And I’m very … VERY bad at naming notes/files … I use a mixture of English and Slovenian file names. Which is terrible, but currently, it is what it is.
It is a good article! Happy note-taking and many safe kilometres on a bike! When I was young and stupid, I was cycling Kopaonik from Rudnica (+1.000 m asc and ). Now I’m old and stupid, so I do trail running
I had to google those two terms, I must admit. Interesting. Based on what I could find, this is my impression (correct me if I’m wrong):
CODE seems like a system that is complementary to what I’m using, and primarily aimed for processing information. For example (again, correct me if I’m wrong):
Capture → Deathnote idea
Organise → Use t-tags, g-tags (indexses), even the directories and note types
PARA on the other hand is about organizing stuff for projects (and project-oriented work), correct?
I already have the directory “district-9” (yes, also a sci-fi and cyberpunk genre fan ) for project-related notes. That’s definitely different and not really complementary with the rest of the “Deathnote” system.
I was always hoping to see a sequel to District-9, but now I think that is a too long time and should stay as just an iconic ZF movie!
It is true what you point out regarding CODE and PARA. I have a mixture of both because I can’t apply only one method. I forgot to paste one quote I saved when I was diving into this month ago …
Think of PARA as where notes live, CODE as how they move, and Zettelkasten as why some notes deserve deeper thought.
But as I said - I stuck with PARA and CODE. Maybe I’m also doing Zettelkasten, but not by plane; maybe it just happened sometimes
