Daily Quick Log Notes - is this the right approach?

What I’m trying to do

TLDR: Does anyone do “quick log notes” (sort of like fleeting notes) to keep a log throughout the day rather than keep the log in project and/or daily notes? If so, how?

I’m just looking for opinions/tips on an approach I’m trying to figure out. Previously, I’ve struggled with deciding whether I log my day in the daily note and backlink to a project or log my day in the respective client/project notes and backlink to the respective daily note. I’ve even posted about it on the forum. I never found anything that worked well - mainly because often I want the Log to both show up as equal partner in both the Daily Note as a log of my day and in the Project/Client note as a Log of my work on that matter.

But today I thought, why not have a Quick Log note, that has properties of date and Project/Client (if applicable) and then pull that info in to respective daily note and/or Client/Project note through a Dataview query. So if i want to log a call with Client X, just create a new atomic “Quick Log” note from a template, and jot down the info, i.e.:

Quick Log Note:
Received call from Client X about Project Y
date:
time:
project: [[project]]
client: [[client]]
– These are the details of our conversation

In daily note [[2024-03-12]]:
##12:24

  • Received call from Client X about Project Y
    – These are the details of our conversation

In the project note:
##2024-03-12

  • Received call from Client X about Project Y
    – These are the details of our conversation

Does this make sense? Is this possible? I don’t know if this is just basic dataview use or if it is an out to lunch ideal to develop and maintain. Basically I want to see the same info in two places. Just trying to figure out if it is not so much a matter of “which” note to put the info but “what” kind of note will allow me to display the info in more than one place?

Thanks for your indulgence. Interested to hear how others do something like this.
