The icon to create a daily note icon has disappeared in one vault I have. I have two vaults. The first one has it. The one that is linked to my cloud so it it synch’s to other devices the icon has disappeared. I really want to use it.

Check if it’s activated in Settings → Core Plugins, and if it is, then it might have been removed from the ribbon menu.
If so, you can activate it again via Settings → Appearance → Advanced → Ribbon Menu.
Maybe the synch software messes with your .obsidian folder, you might want to investigate in that direction as well.
