I would like to request the implementation of customizable keyboard shortcuts for the embedded PDF viewer in Obsidian. This feature would greatly enhance the workflow for users who frequently work with PDF documents within the app.
Description
As a regular user of Obsidian for research and note-taking, I often need to interact with PDF documents. However, the current embedded PDF viewer lacks customizable shortcuts for commonly used actions. Introducing shortcuts for the following commands would significantly improve efficiency:
- Copy
- Copy as Quote
- Copy Link to Selection
Comparison with Other Tools
In comparison, LogSeq has implemented similar functionality, and it works seamlessly. The ability to quickly perform these actions without relying on the mouse greatly enhances the user experience and productivity.
Benefits
- Increased Productivity: Users can perform frequent actions quickly without breaking their flow.
- Improved Accessibility: Keyboard shortcuts are essential for users who prefer or rely on keyboard navigation.
- Enhanced User Experience: Streamlining PDF interactions aligns with the overall smooth and efficient workflow that Obsidian aims to provide.
Proposed Implementation
- Allow users to assign custom shortcuts to PDF viewer actions via the settings menu.
- Include default shortcuts that can be customized or disabled as per user preference.
