Cursor position sensitive Reveal in Finder / Open in default app?

Use case or problem

I often want to open/reveal an asset file that’s linked in a note, e.g. open an image in the default application or reveal a PDF in the system explorer. I can do this from the contextual menu by right-clicking the link.

It’d be great if there was a key command to accomplish this. Currently, the Reveal in Finder and Open in default app commands, which can be invoked by hotkeys, always apply to the note itself.

Proposed solution

I’d like to suggest that these Reveal in Finder and Open in default app commands triggered by hotkeys could be made context sensitive.

If the cursor is positioned in a link to a file, evoking either command would target the linked file rather than the open MD file.

Current workaround (optional)

  1. Using the mouse to open a contextual menu on the link.

    • Totally works, but ideally this functionality could be triggered with a hotkey.
  2. Trigger these command in sequence: Follow link under cursor > Reveal in Finder (or Open in default app) > Navigate back.

    • This workaround saves one from going to the mouse, but requires 3 hotkeys. And I think that having the Reveal in Finder and Open in default app hooks be context sensitive makes a lot of UX sense.
