Create or Edit Task Modal: where is the task placed

Where is the task created using the Create or Edit Task Modal placed? I think in the current file, but it seems that not in the place where the cursor is and neither at the front nor at the end of the file.

Hi, For me it works just like it is stated in a documentation of the Task Plugin:
Create or edit Task - Tasks User Guide - Obsidian Publish
But I think you have to put cursor somewhere, to even open the window.

Opening the ‘Create or edit Task’ Modal

Use the command ‘Tasks: Create or edit task’ to launch the modal.

  • If the cursor was on an existing task, the modal will modify that task’s properties.
  • If the cursor was on a blank line, the modal will create a brand new task on that line.

Thank you, I didn’t notice that in the documentation! Do you know if it’s possible to make some default location for where the tasks are placed if my cursor isn’t anywhere?
You’re right about that if, for instance, no files are open, then the tasks don’t even show up in the command palette (Ctrl+P)

I don’t know If it is possible with the Task Plugin only. You can try asking on their Github. The Task team is very nice and responsive. Or I think you could probably achieve that by using the Quick Add Plugin. A little less intuitive than Task, but pretty useful.
