I use the plugin periodic notes and templater and created a folder-structure for my daily notes like this: Journal/Daily/„daily note file in the format YYYY-MM-DD“ and templates for daily, weekly notes a.s.o…
When I create a new link in a note like this for example: [[2024-10-24]] an I click on it, then it creates a new note in my standard folder for new notes and not in the folder of my daily notes and without the template. when I already created a daily note for that day in my daily notes folder (for example when I click on the day in the calendar), than it opens the daily note.
I want, that the new note with the format [[YYYY-MM-DD]] automatically is the daily note like I click in the calendar on the day.
You could create the file through a command/ link which knows you’re creating a daily note and places it correctly from the start. This should be doable using the Periodic Notes plugin, or by using the create daily note command.
In addition I’ve used the setting “create in same folder” add the base location for new file. This in combination with Templater and its folder templates allows me to write the date links, and as long as I’m in the correct folder (aka the same month) this usually works out rather well.
That last tidbit could also have been solved by having Templater move the file if needed. Similar approach could also be used if by having a global/master template setup.
Hmm. The only way of solving my problem in a convenient way, that I see, is to create all daily notes for all days, weeks, months and years in the fist place. Then I can do it in the other notes like I want. but that’s also very inconvenient.
But I‘m curious why there are plugins, that detects tasks, meta-data and other things, but no one that detects a certain format of links or tags or headings a.s.o.
I‘m not a coder. maybe there is someone, who can make a plugin for that purpose. or is that too difficult? Who/where can I ask?
