Although there are many plugins like Zootelkeeper, Folder Index, Folder Notes, Waypoint etc. - it would be nice to have simple functionality inside Obsidian itself. Just add a checkbox to the graph (local and global) to be able to see folders and their hierarchy in the same way as links or tags displayed. You don’t need to generate any index files, folder note, etc. - nothing, just checkbox for the graph.
It will bring superior flexibility - graph view will cover all possible links - wikilinks, tags, folders and will bring more people to Obsidian who wants to write notes but don’t wont to significantly change classic note organization habits.
PS: idea for developers - add some button on the forum to sponsor development of specific feature. Many people are ready to pay to get their features earlier.
note: the repository referenced in the top of this thread is no longer available
Signed up to the forum specifically to ask for the feature of having our folder structure visible in the graph view…
Turns out many others want this too? For many years? Why is this not implemented if I may ask?
The devs do not like this feature? or are there more important things to develop.
@artimunor , in the graph view, one can filter using things like: path:your-folder
would that suffice? . Or you mean something like local-graph but for the foldeR?
