Create a clickable shortcut to open the vault switcher (macOS and Windows)

As of Obsidian v1.11.7 there’s a new URI option:

• Added new choose-vault URI action to open the vault switcher.

e.g.

<obsidian://choose-vault>

or

[vault switcher](obsidian://choose-vault)

depending on where the link is.

Create a shortcut on macOS

1. Open Shortcuts
2. + to create new shortcut
3. Give it a title
4. Search for Open URLs and drag it in
5. Add obsidian://choose-vault for the URL
6. Click the ( i ) icon and check
   • Use as Quick Action
   • Finder
7. Head to ~/Applications to see your shortcut. You can put in on the desktop, in the Dock, etc.

Create a shortcut on Windows

1. Right-click on the desktop
2. New → Shortcut →
3. Paste in obsidian://choose-vault
4. Next
5. Give it a name

Need Help with Creating Shortcuts for Multiple Vaults in Obsidian

I’d look into using https://help.obsidian.md/Extending+Obsidian/Obsidian+URI for something like this. e.g. [annex](obsidian://open?vault=annex) will open the “annex” vault when clicked. For a desktop shortcut on Windows, you can right click on the desktop → New → Shortcut → paste obsidian://open?vault=annex → give it a name → save → rejoice!
