Contacts pros cons of phone app or obsidian plugin?

What I’m trying to do

Deciding on the best place to store my contacts data, which is mostly on a phone app in what I believe to be a .vcf file.
I do have some of contacts’ data stored on notes like History .md with the following style:
YYYYMMDDHHmm (most recent at top)
Bla bla bla
YYYYMMDDHHmm (oldest at bottom)
Blo blo blo

Things I have tried

Obsidian is much easier to use with notes on the desktop keyboard and greater functionality.
Phone contacts app has nice images for organisations and inter phone functionality which is rarely used.
I think I’m most concerned about a plugin losing (less security of some sort compared to the phone?) or corrupting the data (shouldn’t happen wit backups)

I did read this Obsidian forum post/thread, so will search for contacts plugins to help with the decision.

I have no experience with it, but if I may suggest just trying this plugin, playing with a few of the settings and see if it meets your use case:

VCF Contacts 2.2.0 on desktop Obsidian v1.9.14 freezes up the whole program and desktop, with only 2000 contacts and 1.8 MiB is size!
Obsidian reopened had all plugins turned off. I turned them all back on and Contacts only showing on left side bar, right side bar only has Tags, Backlinks, Outgoing links, Outline, Remnders and Notes Review Queue (flashcards).
Ribbon on left bar’s order has been messed up.

VCF Contact also needs a search or toc (table of contents), as only a vertical drag drag bar, which is hard to find letters a-z, and is slow on the phone.
Birthday format is MM/DD/YYYY and can’t find how to change to YYYY/MM/DD or DD/MM/YYYY.
VCF Contact naming format is correct ISO format, however not human readable, needs a mouseover or function to customise name fields.

Not VCF Contacts error, but importing from Apple or Google contacts takes a long time to code a conversion script.
Copying these converted contacts.md files in works, but Obsidian or VCF Contacts plugin don’t create a UUID, but the VCF Contacts import function does create a UUID for each contact..but import fails as Apple and Google contacts import have customised name fields, that need conversion to run property in Obsidian.

Looking for a better Obsidian contacts vcf solution.

@broekema41 any ideas for the above issue?

Solved itself magically.
I noticed the plugin no longer appears in Obsidian’s right bar.
Obsidian’s left side bar still has the contacts icon, but tapping it blows up the Obsidian app and if I don’t force close, my desktop is also blown up.
Currently have a Contacts folder in Obsidian’s left side bar with a contact I created outside of the VCF Contacts plugin, titled 00-CONTACTS-INDEX, which works nice and snappy.
Problem now is how to easily create a new contact on the go with a quick button on the phone and desktop app.
