Comments View

Use case or problem

Comments are great for information you want to note down, but shouldn’t be exported. But comments easily gets lost in long documents, or can just be bit awkward to use in the middle of the text.

Proposed solution

A comments view, essentially like how we have a footnotes view. With the ability to edit or jump to the comment from the side-bar. Perhaps with an added search option (to search only in the comments in the sidebar).

Current workaround (optional)

There are several plugins which attempt to implement it. Though they generally only allow you to jump to a comment. Usually lacking an edit option, or just being awkward to use.

Can you tell more about this? What you are trying to do specifically?

You can for example use QuickAdd and page preview to add side content that you can edit without leaving your note. You can then use bases to query these links. Or you could do something different and use tasks which you can edit directly in the query output. The difference is that tasks are written to your source document but in the first option only links are written. If you want to erase comments afterwards then you should probably use other software where comments are second nature. Why use something that is bad.
