"Close tab" shortcut does not close tabs

Steps to reproduce

Press cmd+w to close a tab.

Expected result

The tab does not close.

Actual result

  • The “File” menu is blinking meaning that the shortcut is taken into account
  • When I open the File menu and then press cmd+w “Close Tab” blinks.

Same issue across all vaults, including sandbox.
I have no plugin, I reinstalled Obsidian, I deleted the .obsidian directory, no change.

Using macOS 13.2.1 and Obsidian 1.1.16, cmd+w works as expected and closes tabs over here.

My first thought was checking in Settings > Hotkeys that “Close current tab” is set to cmd+w, but you said it’s the same in the sandbox and with a new .obsidian directory.

I know it will take a few minutes, but if you have admin privileges on the mac, could you create a new test user in macOS and try Obsidian (test vault or sandbox is fine) in that account?

maybe you have cmd+w bind to something else system wise.

Hello, thanks for the reply.

Yes I checked, it’s the case. Also as the “menu bar” is blinking, it kinda means the shortcut is taken into account somehow.

I don’t have admin privilege unfortunately.

No, it works for all my other apps
