Character Accent Menu / Accent Menu tab error

Once you’ve done the above, delete everything above this line.

Steps to reproduce

  1. type a few letters and then long hold a letter which has an accent ment (I used “ca” an held “n”)
  2. press tab to select the first item in the accent menu. I used “ñ” after holding “n”
  3. when you press tab in step 3. you will see the letter/word actually tab to the right
  4. press enter to select that accent letter

my example above should result in "cañ"

Actual result

a tab was inserted before my “ca” and it displayed as " cñn"

This sounds like a problem with the typing assistant method you are using. Which seems pretty unconventional.

I thought this was the standard accessibility way of doing it with the keyboard and tabing through options.

It doesn’t seems like a standard way because this workflow essentially blocks press and hold to repeat a character.

Nevertheless, whichever software you are using to get this effect, they have a bug, because they should capture all keypresses (including tab) until you close their assistance popup and return to obsidian.

It is just Mac OS, no special or 3rd party software involved.
Enter characters with accent marks on Mac - Apple Support (CA).
