Changing the link display text

Summary

Hey guys! I discovered the “[ ]()” feature to change the link display text a week ago and I have been updating my vault (only math notes) to look it cleaner, as this is the only way I have discovered to include math in the links. However, now it does not seem to work. Yet, in another vault I have it works as intended. It only used to work in live mode.

Things I have tried.

  • Switching to editing mode, live mode and source mode. None of them works.
  • Disabling wikilinks (as suggested by Obsidian in: Internal links - Obsidian Help).
  • Powering off the computer and turning it on again.

And when I click in the links they make up notes with names that have nothing to do with the links, but related to other notes.

Thanks in advance.

I have just noticed that meanwhile I have the underline below the links disabled (as you can see in the “Algebra” note), the notes whose display I’m trying to change are underlined.

Could you show a few example links where you see the issue in a code block so that folks can quickly copy-paste and check on their end?

Is it possible you installed a community plugin that renders the math in live preview links in one vault but not the other? Something to investigate.

Hey! I have just come to a solution, but it’s actually really weird:

In the vault that works I had installed some time ago the complement “MathLinks”, but it stopped working for me some time ago. I don’t have this complement in the other vault which I shared to you, and the feature “()[ ]” worked without it.

However, I have downloaded it and now all my links are rendered as they are supposed to. Didn’t the “()[ ]” work without this complement???

At least I have a solution. Huge thanks!
