# Microstate and macrostate

In statistical thermodynamics,

- the **microstate of a system**[^Mikrozustand] refers to quantum mechanically the wavefunction of the system or classically all generalized coördinates of the system.
- the **macrostate of a system**[^Makrozustand] refers to macroscopic properties (e.g. [[Temperature]], [[Energy]], Volume)

Expected result

On hover, it should render a preview of the footnote tagged [^Makrozustand].

Actual result

It seems obsidian first casefolds the link to ^makrozustand and doesn’t detect the reference.

Description

Hovering over a named footnote with one or more uppercase letters in its name doesn’t work as expected, because its contents aren’t able to show up.

Steps to reproduce

Bug is reproducible in sandbox mode:

  1. Open a new document, name doesn’t matter, and create two named footnotes. The names don’t matter either, the only thing of importance is that one footnote’s name hast to include at least one uppercase character and the other footnote has only lowercase letters.
  2. Now enable reading-mode.
  3. Hovering over the footnote with one or more uppercase letters in its name doesn’t work as expected, because its contents aren’t able to show up …
  4. … whereas the footnote with only lowercase letters in its name works as usual – its contents are shown when hovering over it.
