What I’m trying to do

I dont see any of my notes anymore and cant open any of my notes

I’m sorry to hear about the missing notes.

First off, Obsidian doesn’t open individual notes ( .md files) one-at-a-time like other apps, so you want to pick Choose Application... (from the screenshot) and select an app like TextEdit (included in macOS), TextMate, VSCode, etc., to open individual files outside of Obsidian.

Next, some more information is necessary for folks to be able to help out. For example:

  • What macOS version are you using, and have you updated recently?
  • What Obsidian version are you using? (Settings > General in Obsidian if you can get there to check)
  • Where do/did you keep your Obsidian vault on disk? On your Desktop? In Documents? In iCloud Drive/Obsidian/<VAULT-NAME>?
  • Can you find any of these notes using the macOS Finder?
  • Are you able to open Obsidian at all? What does it look like? Screenshots could help.

Knowing the answers to these and anything else you can share, will hopefully help point you in the right direction.
