Can animated GIFs be made to play in Obsidian?

I have googled and I have searched this forum.

What I’m trying to do

Is there a way to make animated GIFs play in Obsidian? I have copied a GIF file to an Obsidian page, but it just displays as a static image.

u can. but copy pasting will not work. you either (1) save it (assuming from giphy, right click > save image as) to ur obsidian vault and the embed it manually, or (2) click and drag (assuming from a webpage).
