Callout color not showing up on Publish

Hi everyone,

I have an issue with the color of custom callouts not showing up in Publish.

I have the following code for callouts in my callout.css file under /snippets:

.callout[data-callout="narration"] {
--callout-color: rgb(28, 137, 184);
--callout-icon: lucide-message-square-text;
}

In Obsidian, my custom callout !narration displays the color and icon correctly (green text starting with “Eine SMS”):

When I copy the code into the publish.css file and publish the vault, the site recognizes the callout AND displays the icon, but not the color (text or background).

In the following example, I have only defined the callouts !narration and !map. Two other custom callouts switch to the default appearance and one (!question) is defined as a standard callout. For !narration and !map, the icon appears, but the color is missing.

I have tried using other color formatting in the css (e.g. hex), but that didn’t change anything.

Since the icons are displayed, the css is being recognized and at least partly working, so it can’t be completely wrong. I have tried using the Callout Studio plugin, but the issue remains.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Out of curiosity, if you change the callout-color to

  --callout-color: 28, 137, 184;

in the publish.css, does it work?

This was the previous notation prior to Obsidian 1.13.x. It’s possible Publish hasn’t been updated for this change yet?

* Previously callout colors expected an RGB triplet. */
--callout-color: 255,0,0;

/* Now any valid CSS color is valid */
--callout-color: #ff0000;
--callout-color: rgb(255,0,0);

Thanks for the quick reply! That solved the problem!

I changed the snippets css formatting after the update, so I didn’t have an old version lying around to see if it made a difference (and I would have assumed both Obsidian and Obsidian Publish work the same way).

Guess I need to use different formatting for the snippets css and publish.css. Glad they are separate files.

Thanks again!
