Steps to reproduce

Start a sentence hit CTRL+B CTRL+I. Only bold is used, not italic. The word is encased as follows: bold* (2 asterisks before, 3 after). It seems to work ok if I start a sentence using it (#1 in image)

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N] Y

Yes

Expected result

A bold AND italicised word.

Actual result

only bold.

In the sandbox vault I placed the cursor right before “about”, typed Ctrl B followed by Ctrl I, and got this, which seems good:

First of all, tell me a little bit ***about*** what's your experience with note-taking apps like?

Then I placed the cursor immediately after “your”, typed Ctrl B followed by Ctrl I, and got this, which is less good:

First of all, tell me a little bit ***about*** what's **your**** experience with note-taking apps like?

It surrounded “your” with bold markers but then placed both italic markers after the closing bold marker.
