Bug? Installed fonts don't appear in the drop down (but can be selected by writing their name)

I’m writing this here to make sure this isn’t a problem with my configuration before I submit it as a bug.

Using Obsidian 1.8.10 Flatpak under Arch Linux, KDE Plasma.

What I’m trying to do

Change the font used by the UI and/or text

Things I have tried

  • Go to Settings / Appearance / Fonts / Interface (or Text) font / click “Manage”
  • In the drop-down menu that opens, the font I want to choose should appear, but it doesn’t
  • I’ve tried writing its name to narrow down the list, but still, it doesn’t appear on the menu

Since I know the exact name of the font, and of course it’s installed and working on other programs, I can just write its name, click Add and Obsidian will use it without issue.
I’ve tried it with several installed fonts with success.

So this isn’t really a problem for me, but some users might assume that Obsidian can’t use their installed fonts. And it can be annoying having to remember and write the full case-sensitive name of the font you want to use.

For this reasons, if this isn’t a problem with my system, I’ll submit it as a bug. Can any of you try and replicate it and chime in with your results? Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

This definitely is a bug, I believe it was already reported here. This is definitely a known issue on the discord server though.

I have this issue and I know plenty of people there that have this issue.

I swear I searched the forum and didn’t find it! Do you think I should submit it?

Yes, if it is not here.

I’ll search more thoroughly later and post it if necessary. Thank you!

  • For Linux, we only accept bug reports that are reproducible with our Appimage or Snap package under Gnome or KDE.

I use flatpak. If anyone else wants to submit the bug, feel free to copypaste whatever I wrote that could be useful.
