[Bug] Cannot access local drive in Android Browser (E.g. Boxcryptor)

Platform

[ ] iOS
[X] Android

Obsidian Mobile version: v1.3.1

Hello,

I’m trying to access my encryption pipeline from Obsidian. I have already tested Cryptomator and realize that no app can access its decrypted drive. So I turned to Boxcryptor which integrate its drive inside the Android framework to overcome the sandboxes. All of the apps on my phone can access Boxcryptor in the Android file browser (the blue/white one) as well as Cloud drives like Google Drives. The problem is Obsidian cannot see this in the same file browser. I suppose that could be a permission problem but I cannot know how to solve that. If it isn’t possible, it would be very sad because the main encryption solutions cannot work with Obsidian.

Thank you for reading.

The long story short is that Obsidian needs direct access to your files. On android, the vault is placed in shared space where all app can access the files and you can use filesync or similar to work with you sync provider.

Obsidian doesn’t work with “virtual” locations like Google Drive.
