Black screen on iOS

I installed it from App Store without doing anything and was met with a logo and then a black screen.

iPhone 13 mini with most recent iOS version.

I followed the troubleshooting steps from this thread from last year: The obsidian on my iPhone won't start, it's stuck on the black screen (iClould Enabled) - #20 by Codetheron

Including disabling iCloud for the app, deleting all associated iCloud data, reinstalling multiple times, restarting the phone multiple times, etc.

But nothing helped. This is very frustrating as I purchased Obsidian Sync specifically to be able to use it on my phone (and “Seamlessly work across Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android.” is an explicit part of the marketing pitch for this paid service, and it is not true).

Black screens can on Obsidian when stuff cannot load, the issue may be:

Themes
plugins
Obsidians preferences
Issues with your operating system

Have you tried removing the themes or plugins from your vault on another device?
Have you updated your device/Obsidian to the latest update?

I have this same issue… however I have not logged in on my mobile before, so I never get the chance to create a new vault or what not…

I don’t see how it can be the themes. I have never even logged in on mobile yet so how could it be trying to load my themes and plugins from the desktop? How could it be an operating system issue when it’s just iOS? It is a very closed system

Seems like it’s a known issue (see the Discord discussion), the fix is in, and we’re waiting on Apple for approval.

I have the same issue
I have not logged in on my mobile before and just started using Obsidian
Also, I bought sync for use on multiple devices

Seems like the link to Discord don’t work for me
Could you please update when this issue will be fixed?

There’s some conversation about it, but the linked post is:

This will be fixed in 1.8.4., which is awaiting Apple review for public release.
