I’m new to Obsidian and I’m trying to create my first vault on my Ubuntu system. When I try to select a folder using the “Browse” button, it opens the file picker (Portal), but I cannot select an empty folder.
If the folder is empty, the “Open” button is disabled.
If the folder has a file inside, it tries to select the file instead of the folder, and I get an error saying it’s not a directory.
I’ve tried using .deb, AppImage, and even Flatpak versions, but the problem persists.
Is this a known issue on Ubuntu with GNOME? Is there a recommended workaround for new users?
