I use Obsidian Bases for lightweight data tracking, but I’m missing the ability to fully interact with Bases using only the keyboard. Currently, I can’t navigate between cells, open linked notes in cells, or edit cell values without using the mouse, which breaks the keyboard-driven workflow many of us rely on in Obsidian.
Proposed solution
Add full keyboard support for Bases , allowing users to:
Navigate between cells using arrow keys or vim keys (hjkl).
Open and edit a cell’s linked note with Enter or Cmd+Enter.
Edit cell values inline with the keyboard without requiring a mouse click.
Filter, sort, and interact with table controls using keyboard shortcuts.
This would allow Bases to feel as seamless and efficient as the rest of Obsidian for users who prefer keyboard-driven navigation.
Current workaround (optional)
Currently, I use the mouse for all navigation and editing within Bases. This disrupts flow and speed during note-taking and structured data tracking.

Agreed! I’ve started using Bases and editing a large amount of files this way, adding Author, or Abstract as a property and being able to edit without requiring mouse clicks would be great.
Navigating between cells (using arrow keys or similar) would be so incredibly useful.
The only way I’ve found to navigate cells is to use a combination of TAB and ESC keys: TAB to move to the next element and ESC to dismiss the suggestions modal. If I hit TAB twice, then I’ve inadvertently selected the first suggestion. If I encounter a cell for a list property, TAB will move to the next item in the list. So then I have to TAB through all the current items in the list, hit ESC to dismiss the suggestions, and hit TAB again to move to the next cell. It’s really hard to navigate the table without lifting a hand off the keyboard.
