Auto-save causes Box Drive collisions

I use Box Drive to backup my vault to my corporate cloud storage. Since I use Obsidian to keep notes about my work, I have no alternative.

The auto-save frequency is too high for my crappy corp. secured connection - it saves changes faster than the backup. This causes very frequent collisions with the cloud version of the edited note, that results in multiple duplicated files created by the Box Driver.

Please allow users to disable auto-save or change its frequency.

Steps to reproduce

Use an Obsidian vault in a Box Drive synced folder

Expected result

Files are backed up transparently

Actual result

Duplicated files due to slow connection and version collision

Environment

  • Operating system: Windows
  • Obsidian version: 0.12.15

This looks like a problem of box.

I guess you can open a FR about the auto-save frequency but right now that it is tied to the vault level updates and our own Sync service.

I am having a similar problem with MacOS Big Sur, Obsidian 0.12.15 and Box Sync. The problem is new in the last month or so and feels like it arrived with one of the recent updates from either Obsidian or Box Sync.

@gwiener were you able to resolve this? i find it quite annoying.

Iā€™m having the same issue

Update: A recent update of Box Drive solved the problem. It was probably a Box bug
