Hello Obsidian Team,
I’m writing to report a recurring issue with how Obsidian reports its version, which is causing third-party app updaters like Updatest, MacUpdater, Latest, and others to misidentify available updates.
Currently, I have Obsidian 1.11.5 installed (downloaded directly from your site: https://obsidian.md/download). However, Updatest indicates that I should update to 1.11.7.
Looking at the app directly in Finder, the version is correctly shown as 1.11.5 (screenshot attached). But inside Obsidian, under About Obsidian, it shows 1.11.7. Clicking Check for updates reports that the app is up to date.
This inconsistency between the installer version, app version, and the version reported to updaters is a known issue, as seen in the following reports:
It’s becoming increasingly frustrating that this hasn’t been addressed yet, as it prevents automatic update tools from functioning properly. Could your team fix the versions and please ensure that Obsidian reports its version consistently so that these updaters can work correctly?
