Anyone using Obsidian for reports that have to follow a company Word template?

Does anyone here write in Obsidian but have to deliver Word documents using a template supplied by their client or employer?

I’m curious how you handle that last step. Do you export straight into the template, or copy everything into Word and fix the formatting there?

I’ve found tools like Pandoc GUI and MarkdownWord, but I’d like to hear how they work with actual company templates like cover pages, headers, revision tables and all that.

What works well for you? And is there anything you still have to fix by hand every time?

I’m researching whether there’s room for a paid tool here, so I want to understand the existing workflows before building anything. If your current setup already handles this easily, that’s useful to hear too.

A description of your setup is plenty; no need to share any work documents.

As in you’re thinking of developing a paid tool and doing market research?

Pandoc has a --template option to generate files according to a template, including .openxml (Word templates). It is free, is very accessible, and covers a lot of challenging situations and decisions. For stuff that folks would want to customize, and for advanced manipulation, there’s already a loose ecosystem of tutorials and shared knowledge around it.
