I am relatively new to Obsidian and I want to use it to help manage our property. We have about six acres and there’s a lot of projects and maintenance and stuff that needs to be scheduled and carried out. There’s annual chores, a forest management plan we are trying to maintain, and projects like planting a new stand of Christmas trees in time for them to be ready before our current stand is cleared. You get the idea. I’ve already started mapping the property using OpenDroneMap , and I think it might be powerful to link the knowledge base to a geographic information system. Is anyone else doing this? Any tips/suggestions/examples would be appreciated.
Try this plugin. Info can be found here: GitHub - esm7/obsidian-map-view: Interactive map view for Obsidian.md
Official link for obsidian plugin is here: Plugins - Obsidian
This plugin has a lot of potential! One of my goals over the upcoming break is to get all of the OpenDroneMap-processed content available as a local map server, which would work very well with that plugin.
Hmm, now I’m wondering about doing the same with the buildings – the ODM data I have would cover the exterior, and I could scan the interior with LIDAR and build models in Blender or something. There are a couple of plugins for embedding models like that. Hmm. Thanks again!
I am waiting also to uninstall GIS as I find it too convoluted and bulky.
But the Obsidian team created plugin may not yet support images files yet..
Not tried this yet either:
I’d like to help you as it’s super interesting, but I’m not more experience that you are. If you found a way to manage those GIS challenging, don’t hesitate (if you have time!) to share it with us or in the Share & showcase section.
